Scholarship Program  


All full-time employees, spouses, and dependents of employees of member firms are eligible for the scholarship. This includes children and/or grandchildren of employees of a member firm.  An employee must have completed one full year of full-time employment by the deadline for submitting the scholarship application. The parent/ guardian of the applicant must be a resident of Georgia. The applicant must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full or part-time program of studies at any accredited 2 or 4 year post-secondary school.  The program is for undergraduate study. The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. To verify eligibility, the application must be signed by a GAEL Voting Member.


All completed applications, must be post-marked by March 1st of the application year. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Applicant should keep a copy of his or her application.  The following is considered a complete application:

A 700 word minimum, typed, double spaced, essay, following APA standards.  The essay should include information about you, your educational goals and professional aspirations. How can this award help you to achieve these goals? Why should you receive this award?

One or more recommendation letters from a high school teacher/college professor, counselor, or minister/community leader. The recommendation letter(s) should address your academic ability, work habits, leadership capabilities, personality and integrity, and should also include your community involvement in terms of work/service, leadership skills and any outstanding recognition.  The recommendation letter(s) should be individually sealed by the reference and sent to the applicant to be included within the application packet.  Applicant shall not open the sealed envelope(s).

A current school transcript, individually sealed by the school, and sent to the applicant to be included within the application packet.  Applicant shall not open the sealed envelope.

An official copy of the ACT/SAT scores used in the application. (If not provided on the school transcript)

The scholarships will be awarded in increments of $4,000. The number of awards will be determined based on the return on investments from the previous year along with the received donations. A minimum of four (4) scholarships are typically awarded each year.

Final Scoring, evaluation, and selection of recipients are the responsibility of the Scholarship Committee. The recipients are selected by the Scholarship Committee alone.

 Scholarship Eligibility Requirements and Application sent out to all voting members via e-mail. It is the responsibility of the voting member to communicate this e-mail to his employees.

- March
Applications must be post-marked by March 1st
Winners notified in late March of the scholarship year

Scholarship winners will be announced at the Scholarship Luncheon.
